BCI COVID-19 Response

BCI is taking all of the necessary steps in response to COVID-19. Please read up on the changes we will be making and the precautions we’ll be taking during this pandemic.

The Benson Concussion Institute continues to operate with enhanced hygiene and sanitation practices.

Our regular clinical hours during this time may be reduced, depending on patient volume and the needs of our staff.  We will continue to be reachable by phone and email during regular business hours. 

All travelers returning from outside Canada should self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.  If you develop symptoms – cough, fever or difficulty breathing – stay home and complete the online COVID-19 self-assessment.  Do not go to the ER or doctor's office.

If you have traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days, or have visited a Canadian location where you may have been exposed to a known case of COVID-19, have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or flu-like symptoms, please contact us at 587-830-2240 to cancel your appointment to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. 

Patients being booked for appointments will be asked appropriate screening questions by Group23 Sports Medicine staff to prevent exposure and spread of COVID-19. Screening questions are developed by Alberta Health Services and are changed based on the current status of COVID-19.  Social distancing of 2m spacing of patients seated in the waiting area will be adhered.  Rooms, computers, and equipment are always sanitized between uses.

If, after having booked your appointment, you develop fever, cough, shortness of breath or flu-like symptoms, please contact us to cancel your appointment. After cancelling your appointment, we will ask you to call back in two weeks to reassess if we are able to book you at that time based on the screening criteria in effect on that date.  General advice and/or follow-up appointments can be arranged via phone pending each patient's unique situation.
