Read MoreIn sport we worry so much about the training plan and the equipment and just cross our fingers things will be okay if there is an injury. Ensuring the reporting is accurate, precise and readily available to coaches and sport administrators is what is making the difference for us. Also, trusting the care our athletes are receiving is huge and takes so much stress off of our organization. Working with BCI is equally important as every other piece of our programming and we are so grateful to be partnered with you. Subscribing to the BCI has been one of the most important things we have done as an organization to support our athletes!

Read MoreAs a parent, it really provides a sense of relief that our children are able to access more advanced diagnostic tools to help when there has been a concussion. Clare and I don’t take concussions lightly. We understand that they are brain injuries with indeterminate negative consequences. We also realize that the symptoms don’t necessarily correlate to the extent of the injury.

Read MoreThe BCI concussion program will greatly benefit all recreational participants. As an elite athlete who has suffered from many concussions over the years, I am certain that having a comprehensive concussion program available will aid other athletes in their recovery,” Hanrahan explains. “What is not always realized in concussions is their multi-factorial nature. It is not simply a blow to the head resulting in headaches. By having a multi-disciplinary team in place with the most cutting edge technology regarding concussions, athletes will be aided not only in their return-to-play, but be given back their proper quality of life.

Read MoreAssessment was thorough, staff were courteous and knowledgeable. Dr Benson was easy to talk to and not condescending. Concussion treatment has improved my recovery tremendously compared to my physicians recommendation of staying sedentary in a low stimulus environment. Again, that probably depends ones individual health conditions...

Read MoreExcellent experience. Dr Benson and his team professionally diagnosed my daughter following a gymnastics related concussion. Dr Benson then lead a treatment plan that included working with specialized eye therapy professionals. A few months later my daughter has graduated the program with corrected vision and an excitement to bring her improved vision to the beam! Huge thank you.
No Two Athletes Are Exactly The Same.
Our insight tells us that no two athletes are exactly the same. Each is unique, with a different set of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial attributes that affect both their susceptibility to injury and their recovery process.
Our multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals are leaders in their respective fields, serving Canadian Olympic, Paralympic, National, Provincial, and several elite community sport associations. This team includes sport medicine physicians, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, exercise physiologists, vestibular therapists, vision therapists, kinesiologists, neuro-optometrists, registered sport psychologists, sport dietitians, sport scientists, and experienced clinical technicians. We are also a collaborative partner of the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta (CSIAB), and Dr. Benson is a proud member of the NHL-NHLPA second medical opinion list.
